Join the Edmonton Heritage Council for their inaugural Roots & Routes event at Journey of the Horse.

 

This is an exclusive evening at the award-nominated and past EHC Heritage Community Investment Program (HCIP) grant recipient, Journey of the Horse exhibit, created by Sue Mah and Andrea Maru.

This remarkable transformation of the Mah Society building showcases the stories of Chinese immigrants who shaped Edmonton's history and Chinatown community.

Your evening will include:

  • Guided tour of the exhibit with creators Sue Mah & Andrea Maru

  • Opportunity to meet community elders who contributed their stories

  • Light refreshments featuring treats from Hong Kong Bakery

  • Discussion about preserving cultural heritage and revitalizing Chinatown

The Mah Society of Edmonton is located on Treaty 6 Territory- specifically Amiskwaciwaskahikan (ᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ) which is Cree for Beaver Hills.

Treaty 6 is the traditional meeting grounds, gathering place and travelling route of the nêhiyawak (Cree), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux),

Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. It is also home to Metis Region 4.
